What Size Batting Square is Right for My Project?
Batting squares for rag quilting need to be twice the width of the seam allowance
smaller
than the fabric squares you are using. For example, if you are rag quilting with 10” fabric squares and using a 1” seam allowance, the batting squares need to be 8”. (1” + 1” = 2” 10” – 2” = 8” batting square) Use this formula to calculate the size batting square needed for your project. We offer batting squares in several sizes.
